A Passing Thought

February 25, 2010

I am a member of a major bike forum that I frequent on and off but I’ve noticed that I really don’t “fit” in any of the sub-forum categories unless of course I’m 100% just riding my hybrid. There is no English Bikes or Amsterdam type bikes etc. No fashionable riding either

I don’t mind spandex or Lycra but I prefer not to wear it myself when I’m biking now. I do dress a bit sportier when I do ride my hybrid because I can just imagine the peep show if I tried to mount/dismount in a skirt or dress.

I’d love to have a more style, form and function type of forum because bikes can be fashionable and the people that ride them can be too.

Much Love

P.S. Anyone know where to find a cute cape like garment with slits on the sides for your arms? I saw one on the London Style Chic site and I’d love one!

I hope someone creates a forum like this soon as looking at various blogs there is a strong interest!

If you don’t mind “vintage” or gently used clothes, I frequent a site called “Etsy”. It’s like an ebay but only for hand-made or vintage clothing/accessories. I follow some etsy shops and i’ve gotten some very good deals…way cheaper than for retail, esp. shoes 🙂

      Hi again Judy,

I love love LOVE Etsy..Maybe just a bit too much for my husbands liking too. I’m actually eying a wool capelet and a few other vintage thing. I wish my husband liked Vintage but I think he soured on it from his childhood and what his family considered “vintage”

Wooohooo Red Bike tomorrow too!! I’m way way over excited and I hope the weather is clear and fingers crossed for a Pashley test ride too

I don’t think there are too many forums for British or Dutch bike riders in general. I guess that is what blogs are for…

FWIW I own a grand total of one pair of cycling shorts and they are actually baggies with the lycra underneath. 😉

Lots of fun to be had with vintage clothes. I repurpose wool dress slacks from thrift stores into knickers or plus fours. My mother was an accomplished seamstress and I learned from her. Sewing is not particularly difficult once you learn the basics. The machines can be expensive though.
